Fried Rice with Premio Chicken Sausage

Ingredients:

1/2 package Premio Sweet Italian Chicken Sausage
1/2 cup uncooked rice
1/2 yellow onion, diced
2 carrots, peeled and cut into small pieces
3/4 cup peas
1 egg
2 tablespoons soy sauce

  • Always cook chicken sausage to a minimum internal temperature of 165° F using a meat thermometer.

How to make Fried Rice with Premio Chicken Sausage:

1. Bring one cup of water to a boil in a saucepan. Add the rice and cover. Lower the heat and let it simmer for 20 to 25 minutes. Do not open the pot while it’s cooking. This will let the steam out and cause the rice not to cook correctly. When the rice is done, remove it from the heat and set aside.

2. Remove the sausage from their casings. Cook the meat over medium-high heat in a large skillet until it is cooked through and golden brown. When the sausage is finished cooking, remove it from the skillet and set it aside. Drain the excess fat from the skillet.

3. In the same skillet, saute the vegetables until they are soft. When the vegetables are done, move them to one side of the skillet. Crack the egg into the skillet and scramble it.

4. Add the rice, sausage and soy sauce to the skillet. Stir fry the rice for about five minutes. Make sure all the parts are evenly combined and add more soy sauce if needed or desired. Serve hot.
