Ingredients:

1 package Premio Hot Italian Sausage, sliced in rounds
1 onion, cubed
3 garlic cloves, crushed
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 red pepper, cubed
32 ounces tomato sauce
2 cups lentils, (soaked night before)
Salt/pepper to taste
Cayenne pepper to taste (optional)
Hot pepper flakes to taste (optional)

  • Always cook pork sausage to a minimum internal temperature of 160° F using a meat thermometer.
  • Always cook chicken sausage to a minimum internal temperature of 165° F using a meat thermometer.

How to make Lentils & Sausage:

1. In a large pot, saute onion and garlic in oil until almost brown. Add peppers and saute for additional 1 minute. Add tomato sauce and bring to boil.

2. Place lentils and Premio Hot Italian Sausage in pot and lower stove to simmer. Add all preferred spices and simmer, covered for 45 minutes to 1 hour. If during the simmering the sauce starts to dry,add water.
