Sausage Purlo

Ingredients:

1 pound Premio Hot Italian Sausage, cut into 1/4 inch slices
1 medium onion, diced
1/2 cup bell pepper, diced
1 clove garlic, minced
2 cans stewed italian tomatoes
1 teaspoon thyme
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 cups water
2 cups long grain rice

  • Always cook pork sausage to a minimum internal temperature of 160° F using a meat thermometer.
  • Always cook chicken sausage to a minimum internal temperature of 165° F using a meat thermometer.

How to make Sausage Purlo:

1.Brown the Premio Hot Italian Sausage in large skillet. Remove sauage and set aside.

2.Add onions, bell peppers and garlic; saute until softened. Add thyme, salt, pepper, tomatoes and sauage.

3.Simmer for 6 minutes, adding water to bring to a boil. Add rice, reduce heat and cover; Cook for 25 minutes or until rice is done. Serve warm.
