Super Sausage Gyros

30 Minutes or Less

Ingredients:

Yogurt cucumber sauce:
1/2 seedless cucumber, peeled and halved lengthwise
1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup plain whole-milk yogurt
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon finely chopped dill
Freshly ground pepper
Gyros:
1 package Premio Premio’s Sweet Italian Sausage
4 pocketless pita breads or nan, about 8 inches in diameter
Romaine lettuce leaves
Tomato slices
Red onion slices

  • Always cook pork sausage to a minimum internal temperature of 160° F using a meat thermometer.
  • Always cook chicken sausage to a minimum internal temperature of 165° F using a meat thermometer.

How to make Super Sausage Gyros:

Sauce:

1. In a small bowl combine all ingredients. Refrigerate up to 1 day until ready to use. Gyro: 1. Light a grill. Once the fire is medium-hot, brush the grate with olive oil.

2. Place Premio Sausage onto grill and grill for about 12 minutes, turning as needed, until cooked through. Remove from grill and slice the sausages into 2 inch pieces.

3. Layer the sausage on the pita breads and top them with lettuce, tomato, onion and a spoonful of Yogurt-Cucumber Sauce. Fold the pitas over the sausage slices and serve right away, passing the remaining yogurt sauce alongside.
